Young Families Connect in Ipswich

May 28, 2016 by adminstrator

On 19th May 2016, Ipswich State High School launched its “Young Families Connect Program” – a ‘Program of Excellence’ partnership between the school and Mission Australia’s Communities for Children, Inala to Ipswich.  The program offers tailored education support providing flexible delivery of learning, support to young parents living in the Ipswich Region, helping them work towards completing a Queensland Certificate of Education and Certified Competency Based Training.

The program is designed to assist young parents to achieve important academic success whilst still caring for their child. It  can cater for over 20 young mums. The onsite adjunct care centre is named Millen Kully Moolum which means “Plenty of Babies” in the local Jagera language.  It is designed and built for the Young Families Connect Program and has holistic health services in partnership with KAMBU Health and links with other external agencies to provide advocacy and support.
